Javier Evans

Javier Evans is Chief Human Resources Officer at Webster Bank, (NYSE:WBS) a leading commercial bank with more than $70 billion in assets.

He is responsible for the company’s strategic direction and development of human capital management practices focusing on compensation and benefits, talent management, leadership development, succession planning, inclusion and belonging efforts, and organizational development.

Javier previously served as Chief Business Operations and Services Officer at Sterling National Bank, where he directed the operations and service channels of the bank’s commercial, consumer and digital client segments.

Prior to this role, Javier served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Sterling National Bank and the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Astoria Bank. Javier has directed the Human Resources function at TD Bank and TD Securities, National Financial Services Corporation, a Fidelity Investments Company, and HSBC Bank, USA.

He was honored by the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI) for his work in leading inclusion and belonging initiatives during his tenure with HSBC USA Bank. Javier was also recognized by Crain’s New York Business as one of its Notable HR Leaders and by the Moxxie Mentoring Foundation as one of its 2023 MoXY award winners for his efforts to advance the careers of women through mentoring.

Javier is relentless in his commitment to community and holds positions on several boards and community organizations, including: National Association for African Americans in Human Resources, Society for Human Resources Management, United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island, YMCA of Long Island and SCO Family of Services.

Javier earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University and an M.S. from New York Institute of Technology.
